2 Years, 3 Months (27 Months) Old!

Ellen is one funny 27-month-old! Her personality continues to shine and she keeps coming up with things that (for the most part) make us smile. A few examples:
  • Ellen is very in to imaginary play these days. She especially likes to play "Sea Life" where she pushes one of her babies or stuffed animals around the house in her doll stroller and pretends they are at Sea Life at the Mall of America. She looks up at imaginary sharks swimming overhead in an imaginary shark tank/tunnel and points out imaginary "Dory" and "Nemo" fish.
  • Nearly everyday Ellen looks at one of us, crosses her arms in a very grown-up manner and asks, "So, what do you want to do tonight?"
  • Whenever we return from an errand or other outing Ellen always asks, "Did you have a good time?"
  • If something (usually an article of clothing) is too big or too small, EVB says, "It too fit."
  • Without any prompting, Ellen will say, "I love you SO much!"
  • EVB comes up to us and whispers, "I've got a secret." When we ask, "What's your secret?", she whispers back, "I don't know."
  • When you has Ellen what Daddy does at work, her response, "Gets the monies."
  • When Ellen is crying, she'll make sure you know by saying, "I'm crying." Then, she'll ask, "What's the matter with me?"
  • EVB has started a daily morning ritual of reading books to her babies ... She can literally read (recite) every book she owns almost word-for-word with the proper inflection in all the right places.
Despite a few recent challenges (e.g., waking up at 5 a.m. or thinking it's hilarious to head-butt mommy), Ellen is still one sweet little girl. :)

2 Years, 2 Months (26 Months Old)!

Ellen turned 26 months old Dec. 27 ... She is as busy as ever and in recent weeks has gone through another big change in terms of vocabulary. She literally talks non-stop (at least at home) and often has trouble getting all the words out as fast as she wants to say them. I honestly don't think there are many words she doesn't know and her complex sentences and inflection continue to amaze us. Aside from verbal development, we're continuing to work on potty training and talk about Ellen's new brother or sister who will be arriving before we know it!

Silly goose (or as Ellen would say, "Funny goose")!

Christmas 2011

Ellen had a wonderful 3rd Christmas! The festivities began on the 18th and we had gatherings to go to until the 26th! It was busy, but lots of fun. Highlights for Ellen included:
  • A Baby Jesus craft project and ornament hunt at the Kircher/Benscoter gathering
  • Seeing Santa at the annual Flynn Family Christmas party (However, the excitement over Santa came only after all was said and done. In the actual moment, EVB was NOT a fan!)
  • Calling out (very loudly) for Jesus, Mary, "Jophes" and the angel during the procession at Christmas Eve mass (not necessarily a highlight for Mom & Dad, although it was pretty cute!)
  • Opening presents at Omma & Boppa's house on Christmas Eve (including a new race track with cars!)
  • Setting out cookies for Santa and carrots for Rudolph
  • Waking up on Christmas morning to discover that Santa brought her just what she asked for: Baby GoGo and "Frito Rocket" (aka "Fraggle Rock") and then opening more presents with Mom & Dad
  • Opening even MORE presents and Grammy and Grandpa's house in the afternoon on Christmas Day (EVB's favorite is a doctor kit complete with a "sep-a-soap")
  • Wrapping things up with one final party with the Johnsons the day after Christmas, which included the excitement of a real, live puppy dog!

Opening presents is fun!

Pout brought on by envying Gavin's Diego car ...

Looks like Santa & Rudolph enjoyed Ellen's treats!

Santa came while EVB was sleeping ...

Yippee! Baby GoGo!

Big hug for Baby GoGo

Crazy Christmas Morning hair :)

Hooray for more presents (and another baby doll!) at Grammy & Grandpa's!
